Wordpress imminent, other projects surfacing
The Wordpress-based version of this site is getting close. Been a bit of a bumpy road creating my own template -- and in truth it's still far from where I want it to be in the end -- but it's getting to the point where it will supplant this version. I'm splitting time between WP and preliminary designs for an actor's website, so it might be another week or so before either sees the light of day.
I'll be replacing the Portfolio link (which I'll admit is a bit random at present) with a Projects link once there's something to see from the actor site.
More to come
I'm a tinkerer at heart, so this design won't be a final one. I've added an email feature (in the case that you simply MUST send me mail) sitting down by the copyright info and to the left of the Site Map link on every page. Since I'd prefer only those people motivated enough to find it down there to send me mail, you won't see too many mentions of it besides this one.
The email feature comes courtesy of the Facebox JQuery plugin (found here) and an Ajax/JQuery/PHP tutorial found at BitRepository.
Layout adjustments to follow, and hopefully some illustrations tied in with each page to spice things up a bit.
Site Reboot
The prior version of this site only lasted about 7 days or so (and can be seen in the portfolio gallery, at least until I have more content to fill that section) but it was too gray and not befitting of my current locale. Perhaps if it were in the 30's and snowing (as it is back in NYC today) the mostly gray and somber tones of the old design would be more appropriate, but not in California. Soft and blue, like the sky is here 95% of the time.
A few thank-you's
Many thanks to the fine folks at Devkick for the wonderfully simple Galleria JQuery plugin, as well as to Jan Sorgalla and the JCarousel plugin. Though I had to work through some self-inflicted bumps in the road in putting together the portfolio page for this site, there's no way I'd have been able to build something like that in an afternoon, much less something that works in more than just Firefox or Opera.
Not done yet!
Unless you're the type to View Source on many of the pages you visit, you'd be otherwise unawares that this landing page is 100% static. I have a WordPress install going on this webserver, but have yet to work with it enough to get it to drive the content of this blog-like space. That said, I don't anticipate frequent enough updates to this page to warrant putting WP as a higher priority than the other projects I have queued up, so I humbly ask that you bear with me in the meantime.
